To increase the quantity and quality of goat milk, simply filling the stomach is not enough. Goats require a balanced and nutritious diet. By observing the health and udder structure of the goats in the picture, it can be estimated that they are being provided with high-quality protein and energy-rich feed.
A goat cannot fully meet its nutritional needs through green fodder alone. To provide additional strength and improve milk production, it is essential to give concentrate feed (Wanda). A good-quality concentrate feed should include the following components:
Grains: Crushed wheat, crushed corn, or barley.
Oilseed Cakes: Cottonseed cake, mustard cake, or sunflower cake (an excellent source of protein).
Bran: Wheat bran, which is very beneficial for digestion.
A lactating goat should be fed according to its body weight. Generally, the feeding ratio should be about 60% green fodder and 40% concentrate feed or dry matter.
Goats should be given concentrate feed at least twice a day—once in the morning and once in the evening.
A large portion of milk consists of water. If a goat drinks less water, milk production will naturally decrease. Therefore, it is very important to ensure that clean and fresh water is always available for the goats.
