For the 2026 planting season, the Kenya government has directed Kenya Seed Company to maintain 2025/2024 price levels to support farmers. Prices for standard maize seed are retained at Ksh 210 for 1kg, Ksh 420 for 2kg, Ksh 2,100 for 10kg, and Ksh 5,250 for 25kg, effective immediately across all depots and stockists.

High Altitude (H614D, H6213, H629, H628): Suitable for high-potential areas, with yields often exceeding 30 bags per acre.
Medium/Low Altitude (H513, H516): H513 (2kg) costs approximately Ksh 650, suitable for Western Kenya and, parts of Nyanza, yielding about 24 bags (90kg) per acre.
Other Brands (DK, Pioneer, SC): DK 777 (2kg) is also available, with market prices sometimes varying, such as 2kg units retailing around Ksh 1,299 in some.
